"Grow
my hair / Grow my hair I am Jim
Morrison / Grow my hair/ I wanna
be wanna be wanna be Jim Morrison."
These now famous lines got many
critics and fans wondering. What
did it all mean? Thom explains:
"I just ranted that verse the
day after I saw The Doors film.
That film really wound me up,
really upset me. It was like [Morrison]
was some sort of Arthurian legend
or something." Jonny played guitar
with a paintbrush on this cut.
"Anyone Can Play Guitar" was the first true single (not
of limited production) taken from Radiohead's first album Pablo
Honey. It made little impression on the charts but remained a staple
of the band's live sets throughout the early-mid nineties.
Thom
Yorke got the idea for the famous line "I wanna be Jim
Morrison" after seeing The Doors move and is meant to convey
Yorke's dissatisfaction with the mythical status Morrison is given. |
